Russia has not discussed the issue of peacekeepers in Karabakh with Armenia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said, adding that Karabakh is both de facto and de jure the territory of Azerbaijan.
“Now, indeed, they [Russian peacekeepers] de facto and de jure are on the territory of Azerbaijan, this is recognized by the Prime Minister of Armenia [Nikol] Pashinyan,” the Kremlin representative was reported by TASS as saying.
“As for the further regime of their stay and all related modalities, then, of course, this will be discussed with the Azerbaijani side,” Peskov said, adding that “of course, the Russian Federation will continue contacts with Armenian friends”.
The Kremlin representative clarified that the issue of the possibility of redeploying the Russian peacekeeping contingent was not discussed during a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
