Senate of Uzbekistan unanimously approves laws on border with Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM – The Senate of Uzbekistan unanimously approved the laws on ratification of the agreement between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on certain sections of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan and the agreement on joint management of water resources of the Andijan (Kempir-Abad) water reservoir.

19.5 ha of land will be transferred to Uzbekistan for servicing the Kempir-Abad dam and protection of the dam territory. 1,019 ha of pastures in Kurgantepa district of Andijan region will be transferred to Kyrgyzstan.

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan will be allowed to use the dam for fishing, cultivation of rice on 400 ha area.

The agreement was reached on transfer of 294 ha in valleys of Uzbekistan in exchange for 429 ha of territory of Kyrgyzstan on 10 border sections.The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan earlier passed the bulls on ratification of the agreement on delimitation of certain sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border and agreement on joint management of water resources of the Andijan water reservoir.
