The goal of the US is to push Russia out of the peaceful settlement process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told this to Russia-24 television on Friday.

“The US, in my assessment, is attempting to achieve the same thing everywhere: on the one hand, to push Russia out, on the other hand, to subjugate—in a neo-colonial style—the independent countries which are partners and allies of Russia, to disrupt our partnership and alliance with friends and neighbors. This has always been the main task of America,” said Galuzin.

He emphasized that there is no alternative to the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan based on the tripartite statement by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

Moreover, according to him, Russia is not against other countries contributing to the Armenian-Azerbaijani peaceful settlement process.

“But it should be support not in words, but in deeds. And it should be based on the basic fundamental agreements that were reached by the leaders, and which, as we see, are generally being implemented with success,” the Russian deputy FM added.
